One Week from Bikes and Beers Baltimore 2026!

Less than a week from today, The Barhopper will be riding in it's "maiden" voyage event - Bikes and Beers Baltimore!

I've built this bike specifically to ride in events like this, and to do this sort of thing and I am so stoked to finally get it out! As a matter of fact, I wanted to test out just how ready it will be for cracking open come beers post ride - so last night I actually used the bottle opener on it for a beer. It's such a satisfying moment to see the bike I've built not only function how I planned, but also know that it will be in top shape come Saturday.

This past weekend as a way to help prepare for B&B, I took The Barhopper to Chincoteague Island to ride it around but sadly the weather had other plans. I did get to do some short rides around to get to breakfast and grab coffee, but unfortunately that was about as far as I would get.

Additionally, I have done a tune-up on my buddies bike who will also be riding in the event - albeit the 15 mile instead of the 30 mile. His bike looks to be in great shape and feels pretty dialed in, and I'm excited for him to ride it to see how it feels. While I don't plan to do tune ups in the future, I'm not entirely against the idea because it was quite satisfying getting the front derailleur shifter working properly. Either way, today I had the opportunity to clean and check over both bikes to prepare for the event and I'm feeling confident they will preform well.
